Clear Sky Talks & Networking for Therapists
When I set up Clear Sky in 2010 I could never have imagined that we would grow such a strong and successful team. Just eight years later and we are now a team of 15 capable and passionate therapists working with nearly 70 children a week in 22 schools across Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire. We are in an exciting period of growth and would love the opportunity to share with you our plans to extend our work into the Thames Valley and surrounding counties.
Come and join us for breakfast at Clear Sky Children’s Charity’s beautiful office in South Oxfordshire, network with other creative therapists and discover the many benefits Clear Sky has to offer you.
Meet some of our therapists who do the work on the front line with children, parents and professionals and hear from Sophia Giblin about why Clear Sky was launched, the journey of the charity and the changing face of therapy within schools. Find out how Clear Sky has become the UK’s leading Play & Creative Arts Therapy charity supporting over 400 children through one-to-one therapy, as well as successfully delivering parenting programmes and training for schools.
Hear about our exciting future plans and what is coming up for Clear Sky as we grow and forge the path for Play & Creative Arts Therapy in schools.
Following these talks will be an opportunity to network for those wishing to meet other creative therapists in the area. Why not also take advantage of our stunning location with a walk up the beautiful Wittenham Clumps?
What will I gain from attending?
Learn more about Clear Sky services and how we operate. Whether you are interested in training as a therapist or in becoming part of the Clear Sky team, we would love to meet you! You will also have the opportunity to meet like-minded therapists and talk to members of the Clear Sky team.
What are the benefits of being a Clear Sky therapist?
Being a therapist in schools can be an isolating and lonely experience. At Clear Sky we wanted to make sure that we created a dynamic and supportive team environment for the therapists we work with. We provide admin and report writing support. In fact, we manage all logistical aspects of working with the schools, including the finances, to make it really easy for our therapists to go in and do the job that they are trained to do! We provide training, peer supervision and opportunities to get together with the team, have lots of fun and support each other in this important role.
What do therapists who work for Clear Sky say about the charity?
“I love working as a Clear Sky therapist because I am passionate about the charities values and beliefs. The child is at the heart of everything we do; every child is given a chance to shine. Being part of a playful and creative team provides opportunities to learn from and lean on other therapists and feel supported by those who understand the joys and challenges of our work.”
What type of therapists work at Clear Sky?
We are proud to work with talented therapists who come from a range of play or creative training backgrounds. Our current team includes Play, Art, Drama, Dance and Movement Therapists as well as Play Based Counsellors and Child Psychotherapists. We are always looking for qualified and passionate therapists to join our team so, if you are currently training, come and meet us and learn about the potential opportunities available at Clear Sky once you are qualified.
Do you offer placements for Trainees?
We don’t currently offer placements. We believe that sourcing your own placement as a trainee provides very valuable learning experiences that can be brought into the role as a qualified therapist at Clear Sky.
Each year we host therapist training sessions based on the needs of the team and specific requests. In September 2017 we had a sand tray training day to support therapists who were less confident in the use of sand in therapy. This was a great opportunity for us to get together as a team, as well as refresh and learn new skills.
Later in the year we will be running a training session for therapists on bereavement. Previous training this year includes a session on report writing and safeguarding in therapy.
All Clear Sky training comes with CPD points awarded and a certificate that can be included in your annual CPD hours (check with your membership body whether our CPD points will be accepted).
This is what our therapists said about our training days…
“The training was fun, insightful and empowering. The training gave a good depth of knowledge, with balance between theory and practice, in a way that was easy to understand”
“The training was helpful, enlightening and fun. A brilliant day, great to refresh on sand play and connect with other therapists”
At the end of the school year and at Christmas we get together as a team and have a bit of play for ourselves! This Christmas we enjoyed wreath making in the Manor House grounds. In the past we have held a pottery session, group yoga, gone out for meals and had afternoon tea on our roof garden. All therapists are invited to see us at any time in the office, whether seeking advice and support or just for a cuppa – the door is always open.
