Last year Clear Sky gained and then sadly lost a wonderful friend and colleague. Julia Wickson joined Clear Sky in February 2018 as our first ever dedicated fundraiser. She came to us with bags of enthusiasm and loads of ideas about how we could grow and extend our services through raising additional funds for the charity. She took part in our Colour Rush fundraising event with her husband and daughter in May where we raised over £3,500 for the charity which Julia was delighted by. We spent just a few short months working together before she had to stop work due to her health.
Julia sadly passed away in July 2018. We are all so sad to have lost not only a colleague but also a wonderful friend too. Julia’s husband and daughter kindly did a tribute in Julia’s name to Clear Sky which raised over £4,400. Her daughter told us that her Mum would be so happy about this.
Julia had also planned to do a film night to raise money for Clear Sky. Her friends did the film night in her memory in December 2018 and raised in excess of £500. The audience watched a film called Divided featuring two cyclists racing The Tour Divide, a gruelling bike race across Canada and America The lady who made the film, Lee Craigie, presented the event. She set up and runs The Adventure Syndicate, a Scottish charity helping teenage girls.
We are so thankful for the short time that we had with Julia, and how her memory lives on through the work of Clear Sky.
